The Canadian Aquaculture Innovation Portal Project - AquaNetAquaNet, the National Centres of Excellence program in aquaculture, recognized that the development of a sector-wide web portal for knowledge transfer was a priority a call for proposals put out. A national project proposal led by Malaspina University-College was submitted and subsequently funded. The objective of this research was to map the virtual terrain of information important for Canadian aquaculture. Where on the web are the important and available information resources? The second objective was to define the necessary technology and prepare the foundations for design of the portal. TeamA team of 8 network investigators and 11 students from post-secondary institutes across Canada are participating in this project. This work is expected to be completed by March 31, 2008.
