The Canadian Aquaculture Innovation Portal Project - AquaNet

AquaNet, the National Centres of Excellence program in aquaculture, recognized that the development of a sector-wide web portal for knowledge transfer was a priority a call for proposals put out. A national project proposal led by Malaspina University-College was submitted and subsequently funded.
The proposal was titled: Mobilizing Aquaculture Knowledge: AquaPort.ca as Semantic Web.

The objective of this research was to map the virtual terrain of information important for Canadian aquaculture. Where on the web are the important and available information resources? The second objective was to define the necessary technology and prepare the foundations for design of the portal.
